How to Use and Care for Bee's Wrap®

Working with your hands—whether you’re baking bread, hand-grinding coffee beans, or washing Bee's Wrap® in your kitchen sink—can be a peaceful, reflective part of your daily routine. Being intentional with your hands while completing everyday tasks helps you stay present and slow down, even for just a few minutes.

You already know that using reusable, compostable, and biodegradable Bee's Wrap® is a small yet meaningful step toward eliminating plastic for good.  Every piece of fruit, cheese, or bread you wrap with your hands helps reduce the reliance on single-use plastic. And incorporating Bee's Wrap® into your everyday life is a simple, back-to-basics way to make a difference.

How you use and care for your Bee's Wrap® is an essential part of that back-to-basics approach.

How to Use Bee's Wrap®

Using Bee's Wrap® can make a powerful difference in helping the planet. Whether your food storage needs are for on-the-go snacks, school lunches, dinner leftovers, or tasty desserts, our biodegradable food wrap selection is designed to reduce plastic waste and fit your lifestyle.

Our wraps come in small, medium, or large sizes in a variety of prints. Bee's Wrap® can be used to wrap bread, cheese, fruit, vegetables, sandwiches, snacks, baked goods, and more.  They are effective for storing food in the refrigerator, freezer, or at room temperature.

We do not recommend using Bee's Wrap® to store meat or fish, and hot dishes, such as casseroles, should be cooled before wrapping with Bee's Wrap®.

Not only does Bee's Wrap® help with reducing plastic waste, it’s also designed to go the extra mile in your kitchen. We use only natural ingredients in Bee's Wrap®, which creates a flexible, reusable food wrap with antibacterial properties that will keep food fresh for longer.

Washing Bee's Wrap®

Step 1: After using, rinse the wrap in cold water. Be sure to keep your wrap away from hot water so that the wax stays in top form.

Step 2: If food scraps or stubborn crumbs stick to your wrap, gently scrub it with mild dish soap. You can use your hands or a soft scrub brush when washing and apply a bit of pressure to rinse your wrap clean.

Step 3: Air dry your Bee's Wrap® by draping over a drying rack, a clothesline, or a Bee's Wrap® Vermont Maple Bee's Wrap® Drying Rack

Storing Bee's Wrap®

Store your wrap in a cool, tidy area. Keep Bee's Wrap® folded and tucked in a drawer or stored in a basket on your kitchen counter.  Avoid storing Bee's Wrap® in a hot car or next to a stove, oven, or other heat sources. Direct heat can cause the wrap’s natural bee’s wax to break down and shorten its lifespan.

When It’s Time to Reorder

If you use Bee's Wrap® regularly, you can expect the wraps to last between 6-12 months. Over time, you’ll notice that Bee's Wrap® will become softer, frayed, or wrinkled.

Your Bee's Wrap® may also become stained after wrapping foods such as red berries, bell peppers, and beets. If you don’t like stains, opt for one of our darker colored prints, such as our Oceans print or Botanical Blue print.

Composting Bee's Wrap®

Bee's Wrap® is biodegradable and compostable. If you can, try composting your wrap as it will break down faster and more efficiently. Biodegradable items discarded in the trash will take longer to decompose in a landfill—but it’s still much better than throwing away plastic, which never decomposes.

Composting is a  of recycling organic waste for reuse, and composting things like fruit, vegetables, coffee grounds, and Bee's Wrap® results in a healthy soil containing humus, a nutrient-rich makeup. The composting process allows organic carbon to return to the earth and reduces methane emissions.

At the end of your wrap’s life in the kitchen, cut Bee's Wrap® into strips to add to your compost heap or bin.  Another option is to wrap your worn Bee's Wrap® around kindling pieces to use as a natural fire starter.

All of Bee's Wrap® packaging is recyclable and fully biodegradable as well.
